Howard E. “Horsey” Neal, 84, of Timblin, died Sunday morning, July 24, 2016 at the Jefferson Manor in Brookville. He was born on May 30, 1932 in Armstrong County, the son of the late Paul E. and V. Leola (Reed) Neal.

He is survived by three children; Brenda Neal London of Punxsutawney, Bradley Neal and friend Pennie Enterline of Timblin, and Beth Neal and her husband, Steve Dold of Chambersburg, five grandchildren; Christopher London (Jeanne), Nicholas London (Kameliya), Carrie Neal, Katelyn Neal, and Lakota Neal, three great grandchildren; Asa, Henry, and Benson London, and his beloved dog, Brownie.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Barry “Babes” Neal, a brother, Laird Neal, and a sister, Ethel J. Emerick.

He owned and operated the Neals Tree Farm for most of his life and was still currently growing seedlings because he loved doing it. He was a master mechanic at the Kinzu Dam Project and belonged to the Local 66 Operating Engineers with 65 years of service. He also ran crane and heavy equipment, was a farmer, a coal miner, and a truck driver, who could turn a tractor trailer on a dime. He loved to run his tractors, dozer, and lawn mowers. If he was pushing dirt, it was a considered a good day. He enjoyed fishing in Canada, hunting, and traveling to Costa Rica.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Dora Evangelical Church with Pastor Ken Alt officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Dry Ridge, Armstrong County.
