Violet June Klingensmith, 96, formerly of Deanville Road, New Bethlehem, PA, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 30, 2018. Born September 9, 1921 in Kellersburg, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of Elzie George and Annie Myers George. She married her teenage sweetheart, Wayne W. Klingensmith on June 22, 1944. Both were faithful members of Springside Baptist Church. Being active in the Lords work, she taught Sunday School and Bible School for years, would go on visitation, help with Dorcas Fellowship, and open her home to missionaries and preachers.

Violet lived each day as if it might be her last. Material things were not what she valued most in life; God and family were.

Violet had numerous jobs in her life from cleaning homes as a teenager, bookkeeping/secretarial work at Stahlman’s Garage in New Bethlehem, working at the glass plant in Oil city, door-to-door Avon representative in South Bethlehem, and dietetic technician and supervisor of the kitchen at the former Grandview Nursing Home, now Golden Living Center in Clarion.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wayne in 2003. Also deceased are her sisters, Mae, Nellie, Betty, Dolly, and her brothers Omer and Ashley. She has one surviving sister-in-law, Ruth George of Springville, NY.

Also surviving are four children, Darlene Strong and her husband Mahlon of Enola, PA, Gerald Klingensmith and his wife Helen of Punxsutawney, PA, Richard Klingensmith of New Bethlehem, PA, Nancy Vogan, and her husband Robert of Crossville, TN; three grandchildren, Eric Vogan of Butler, Sandi Klingensmith Nicholson and her husband Matthew, of Punxsutawney, Mandi Klingensmith Martino and her husband Scott, of Cresson, PA. Also surviving are three great grandchildren, Isaac Nicholson, Tylee and Evelyn Martino, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Violets family is appreciative of each and every staff member of WRC Senior Services at Edgewood Heights in New Bethlehem, and McKinley Health Center at Laurelbrooke Landing in Brookville, our Moms home for the last 9 years of her life; their loving care and compassion towards her.

Friends will be received on Saturday, February 3, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home, with Pastor Rick Jefferson officiating.

Interment will be in the Kellersburg Cemetery, Madison Township, Armstrong County.

The family suggests memorial donations, if desired, may be given in the name of Violet Klingensmith to Springside Baptist Church, P.O. Box 220, Distant, PA 16223.
