Franklin D. “Beaver” Switzer, 79, of Fairmount City, died Saturday morning, January 9, 2016, at the Clarion Hospital. He was born November 11, 1936, in Star Route, New Bethlehem (Limestone), the son of the late Stanley B. and Esther C. (Seybert) Switzer. He married Sue E. (Runyan) on April 16, 1960 and she survives.

He graduated from Clarion Limestone High School in 1954. He served his country honorably with the United States Air Force, from September 1955 to September 1961. He worked as a chief of surveys for the Pa. Fish Commission for 32 years, where he retired in 1991. He was a member of the Nevin Memorial United Church of Christ in Frogtown. Beaver enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family.

He is survived by a son, Kenneth Switzer and his wife Arleen of Fairmount City, two daughters, Sherri Dugan and her husband Dan of Bellefonte and Jill Pence and her husband Chris of North East, five grandchildren, Zachary Dugan, Thomas Switzer and his wife Amy, Jessica Allen and her husband Zach, Bradley Pence and Alyssa Pence, three great grandchildren, Jacob Allen, Riley Allen and Simon Switzer. Also surviving are two siblings, a sister, Patricia Polosky and her husband Richard of, The Villages, Florida, and Larry Switzer and his wife Barb of Viriginia.

In addition to both his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley “Red” Switzer and John Switzer.

Friend will be received Tuesday, January 12. 2016 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn, and from 11 to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Nevin Memorial United Church of Christ. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the church with Pastor Samuel Swick officiating. Immediately following the funeral service, the Walter W. Craig Post #354 American Legion in New Bethlehem, will honor their fallen comrade.

Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery, Limestone Township.
