Glenn W. Shirey

Glenn W. Shirey, 87, of Kittanning, died Saturday afternoon, June 18, 2016, at the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning. Born on April 3, 1929 in Mayport, Armstrong County, he was a son of the late Samuel R. and Mary (Shaffer) Shirey. He was married on April 18, 1948 to Grace L. (Nolf) and she preceded him in death.

Glenn worked for Gulf Oil Corporation as a truck driver. He enjoyed camping, country music, and cutting wood.

He is survived by two sons, Robert G. Shirey and his wife, Carol and Jerry W. Shirey and his wife, Debra, both of Kittanning, three daughters, Carol A. Morgan and her husband, Paul, Jr. of Newport News, VA., Cathy J. Adams and her husband, Chuck of Kittanning, and Patricia S. Stern and her husband, Tom of Natrona Heights, ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, a sister, Evelyn Aliberto and her friend, Jack of New York, two brothers, Wayne Shirey and his wife, Beverly of Mayport and Clarence Shirey of Dayton, and his faithful dog, Angel.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Glenn was also preceded in death by a son, Daniel E. Shirey and a brother, Jay Shirey.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church on State Route 28 / 66, Kittanning, with Mike Bowser officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mahoning Township, Armstrong County.
