Richard G. Shreckengost

Richard G. “Dick” Shreckengost, 74, of New Bethlehem (Putneyville), died on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning. Born on December 5, 1942 in Putneyville, he was the son of the late Marlin and Doris (Woods) Shreckengost. On October 27, 1961, he married Sandy (Lockwood) and she survives.

Dick was a carpenter and business agent for the Local 2274 Carpenter’s Union. He also served on the Armstrong County Democratic Committee.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Sandy Shreckengost of Putneyville, four children, Bryan Shreckengost (Janet) of Fairmount City, Marcie Wynkoop (Joey) of Seminole, Mandy Blake (Ken) of New Bethlehem, and Brent Shreckengost (Nyla) of Somerset, eight grandchildren, Steven (Jen), Kendra (Tim), Jereme (Holly), Nikki (Andy), Gabbie, Levi, Ranie, and Aleya, seven great grandchildren, Duncan, Trinity, Aydan, Emma, Avery, Ashton, and Zoey, and a sister, Sandra and her family.

In addition to his parents, Dick was also preceded in death by a brother, Rodger Shreckengost.

Visitation will be on Saturday, March 11, 2017, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. Funeral services will be private with Pastor Jodie Smith officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Richard G. Laube Cancer Center, 100 Nolte Drive, Kittanning, Pa. 16201
