Betty A. Smith (Johnston)

Betty A. Smith, 95, of New Bethlehem passed away Friday evening, August 29, 2025, at Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville.

She was born on April 13, 1930, in Distant to the late Lloyd Earl and Bertha L. (Courson) Johnston.

She married Hilton Arnold Smith on April 19, 1946, and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2001.

Betty was a housewife and a member of the Distant Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Edward A. Smith and his wife, Judith, Hilton E. Smith and his wife, Donna, and Larry D. Smith and his wife, Sue, all of New Bethlehem, ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Dorothy Copenhaver and Norma Schrecengost, both of New Bethlehem.

In addition to her parents and husband, Hilton she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tiffany Smith, a great grandson, Colby Buzard, a brother James Johnston and a sister, Judy George.

Family and friends will be received on Monday evening, September 1, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor David Westover.

Interment will take place in the Oakland Cemetery in Distant.
