Shirley Mae Rapp, 87, of Mayport, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Penn Highlands Dubois Hospital. Shirley was born near Lucinda on April 5, 1938. She was the second child of eight born to Clement C. and Beulah M. (Porter) Pfendler. Shirley graduated from Clarion High school in 1956 and then married Eugene Rapp on June 29, 1957, and he preceded her in death in February of 2019. Besides raising five children Shirley farmed all her married life. She also operated school bus for thirteen years for Redbank Schools. She also worked for JM Smucker’s in New Bethlehem for fifteen years and retired in 2000. While working for Smucker’s she also owned and operated the Distant Delight for five years and was a landlord in New Bethlehem for twenty years. Shirley liked to travel, her favorite places were Pigeon Forge and Branson Missouri. She also owned a house in Florida where she went for the winter for twelve years. Shirley also enjoyed square dancing and polkas, going to the senior center, bingo and crocheting. Shirley attended the St. Charles Catholic Church in New Bethlehem while raising her kids then in later years attended the Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion. Shirley is survived by her five children, Ken Rapp of Sugargrove, Pa., Terry Rapp and his wife, Deb, of Mayport, Shelly Brown and her husband, Jerry, of Strattanville, Gene Rapp, of Mayport, and Robert Rapp of Ridgeway; twelve grandchildren, Tiffany Hopper, Shane Kemmer, Kylee Rapp Stevens, Rachel Rapp Hartle, Renee Rapp Minsterman, Zane Rapp, Libby Rapp, Jeb Rapp, Cameron Rapp Smith, Cody Rapp, Joy Rapp and Jill Rapp; fourteen great-grandchildren, and six siblings; Clem Pfendler, Jr. Patricia Wolbert, Diane Griebel, Karen Lewis, Thelma Gatesman, and Nancy Schneider. In addition to her parents and husband Eugene she was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Wolbert, a daughter-in-law, Emily Rapp and three nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarion. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 p.m. at the church with Father Jason Feigh serving as celebrant. Interment will take place at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Clarion.
