A memorial service for family and friends will be on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the First Church of God on the Route 861 in New Bethlehem at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Phillips officiating.

Clair Junior Polliard, 83, of New Bethlehem, died Thursday, December 22, 2016, following a period of declining health. Born February 21, 1933 in New Bethlehem, he was the son of the late, Clair Raymond and Georgie Violet (Coleman) Polliard. He was married on September 29, 1956 to Phyllis I. (Magness) and she survives.

Following his education from the Porter Twp School, Clair sought employment on the ship David P. Thompson, an iron ore carrier on the Great Lakes. Following his marriage, he was employed by Oilwell Supply in Oil City until 1958, when he began a career with Ralph L. Toy Drilling Co. in Distant, PA, retiring from the drilling company in 1995. Clair was also a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 66, Pittsburgh, PA.

Following his retirement Clair kept busy with his family and friends, his horses and watching westerns and Steeler games. He looked forward to deer season every year and spending time at hunting camp. He could be found every afternoon at Burger King drinking coffee with his friends. The family would like to thank his Cottage Hill neighbors and special friend, Louise Fenstermaker for their attentiveness and care over the years.

Survivors include two daughters. Belinda J. Staab and her husband, David of Marble, PA and Jayne I. McCauley and her husband Patrick of New Bethlehem, PA. Five grandchildren, Brian Staab (Anne) of Rochester, New York, Jessica Smith (Anthony) of Pittsburgh, Kellie Staab, Cape Canaveral, Florida, Stephanie McCauley and fiancée, David Burns of Wexford, Pa., and Danielle Emings (Curt) of New Bethlehem, Pa., and one great-granddaughter, Laurel Rae Smith. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Polliard and a sister, Joyce Ann Kilmer (Russell), two step brothers Malcom “Buss” Polliard (Eva) and Jack Polliard (Isobell), and two step sisters Nadine Polliard and Fearby Blotzer (James), also brother- in- law and sister- in- law Paul and Janice Willison and brother-in-law Ronald Magness. Clair was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

As per Clair’s wishes, there will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 11:00 am at the First Church of God in New Bethlehem with Pastor John Phillips officiating.
