Stroup, of Clarion, at the age of 95. He passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, at Clarion Nursing and Rehab. Don was born on September 14, 1930, in Alison Park, Pa to Dessie Stroup. He was a loving husband to his wife, Luella Booth Reynolds Stroup, with whom he shared 24 years of love and companionship. He was previously married to Betty Shick, with whom he raised a family of four children, all of whom survive: Denny (Mona) Stroup of Mayport; Lisa Ripple of Hawthorn; Julie (Andy) Briceland of York; and Susan (Mike) Kahle of Summerville. Don is also survived by his wife, Luella, and his stepdaughters, Cindy (Jeff) Ochs and Suzanne (DJ) Keihl and their families. He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather to Jake, Alyssa, Danica and Cora Stroup; Bryan, Taylor and Brody Ripple; Matt, Nolan and Eli Ripple; Sheena Ripple, Daisy and Jolene Maus; Harley, Bella and John Briceland; Levi Briceland; Eden George; Nathan Kahle; Josh and Parker Kahle. Don was preceded in death by his mother and a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Stroup. Don served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954 as a Corporal. Known for his sense of humor, Don loved to play pranks on both his coworkers and family. He had a boisterous laugh and was a great sport when the tables were turned. Don’s work ethic was unmatched. He never missed a single day of grade or high school and retired from Prudential Insurance after 35 years of dedicated service. In his free time, Don found joy in the outdoors and sports. Whether it was fishing, hunting, trapping, playing horseshoes, cards or bowling, Don always loved competing and socializing. He was a proud and loyal fan at all his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. Don loved to watch baseball games on TV. A celebration of Don’s life will be held at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn, Pa, on Friday, October 10, 2025. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 3:00 pm and 6:00 – 7:00 pm, with the funeral service following at the funeral home at 7:00 pm. We invite family and friends to join us in sharing memories, love and laughter. Instead of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice in his honor. We’re going to miss you, Dad, but don’t worry, we’ll keep you in our hearts (and probably in a few of our stories) forever. Immediately following the funeral service, the Walter W. Craig Post #354 of New Bethlehem American Legion will honor their fallen comrade.
