Jay Leon Minich, 90, of Mayport, died suddenly, on Monday afternoon, September 11, 2017, at his residence. Born on June 20, 1927 in Corbettown, Jefferson County, he was the son of the late Leon and Jessie (Minich) Minich. He was married on September 13, 1948 to LaRue (Willison) and she preceded him in death on March 19, 2000.

Jay was a dairy farmer most all his life.

He is survived by three daughters, LuAnn Minich and her husband Paul Young of Salt Lake City, Utah, Patti Ochs and her husband Dale of New Bethlehem, and Lisa Neyman and her husband Greg of Fort Wayne, Indiana, one son, Michael Minich and his wife Judy of New Bethlehem, fourteen grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Jay was also preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Lane and two sisters, Helen Nulph and JoAnne Lowers.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Tina Lipps officiating. Interment will be in the Lakelawn Memorial Park in Reynoldsville.
