Kenneth J. Kemp, 86, of Hawthorn, died early Friday morning, March 13, 2015, at the Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital. Born May 11, 1928 in Oak Ridge, he was the son of the late John and Marie (Hepler) Kemp. Ken was first married to Dorothy L. (Helm) and she preceded him in death on December 27, 1968. On November 29, 1969, he married Lois J. (Gould).

He was a member of the Hawthorn Calvary United Methodist Church. He worked as a spot welder for Pullman Standard. He was also an active member in the Hawthorn Lions Club and the NBC Chorus.

Ken is survived by his wife Lois J. Kemp of Hawthorn, a son, James K. Kemp and friend Carla of Brookville, a daughter, Linda D. Kiehl and her husband William of New Bethlehem, five granddaughters, Sue Sayers and husband David, Jackie Bouch, Amy Himes and husband Mike, Shannon Nulph and friend Doug, and Krista Krakowiak and husband Dean, eight grandchildren, David “DJ” Sayers, Zan Sayers, Wyatt Bouch, Bailey Bouch, Kendra Himes, Kamryn Himes, Devan Krakowiak and Kelsea Krakowiak, a sister, Nancy Larson and husband Bert of Oak Ridge, a brother, Howard Kemp and wife Carolyn of Waltham, Massachusetts and an ex daughter-in-law Bev Kemp of Brookville.

In addition to his parents and first wife, Dorothy, Ken was also preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Miller and a brother, Vern Kemp.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 15, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Cindy Duffee officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mahoning Township, Armstrong County.
