Leoda M. Anthony, 94, of Distant, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, April 6, 2017 at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sligo. Born April 18, 1922 in Distant, she was the daughter of the late Milo Henry and Hilma Vernon (Hilliard) Young. She was married on December 23, 1939 to Clair R. Anthony and he preceded her in death on October 19, 2011. They were married for 71 years.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Oakland Church of God in Distant. She enjoyed spending time and quilting with the ladies of the church.

She is survived by three sons, Donald Anthony and his wife, Betty, of Marion, IN., Marlin Anthony and his wife, Diana, of Pendleton, IN., and Earl Anthony and his wife, Karen, of New Bethlehem (Distant); six grandchildren, David (Rachel) Anthony of Kokomo, IN, Bradley (Amy) Anthony of West Lafayette, IN, Jarrett (Christy) Anthony, of St. Louis. MO, Ryan (Monica) Anthony of Phoenix, AZ, Kimberly (Jeff) McHenry of New Bethlehem, and Keli (Todd) Griffith of Corsica; eight great- grandchildren, Joel and Jordyn Anthony, Benjamin and Sophie Anthony, Tara and Alexa McHenry and Maddison and Sara Griffith; and a sister, Wanda Mann of Distant.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard “Boots” Young and Herbert Young, and two sisters, Elmo Anthony and Mabel Brown

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 9, 2017, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be on Monday, April 10, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Jimmy Swogger officiating. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Distant.
