Paul Hobert Burdett, 91, of New Bethlehem, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at McKinley Health Center in Brookville. Born July 9, 1924 in Distant, he was the son of the late Hobert M. and Genevieve (Cramer) Burdett. On January 8, 1947, he married Ruth I. Henry of New Bethlehem, who survives.

He attended St. Charles Elementary School and graduated from Porter Township High School. He also attended Penn State University. As a World War II veteran, he served with the Merchant Marines at sea.

Mr. Burdett was for many years a businessman in New Bethlehem. He owned and operated Burdettes’ Furniture and Paul’s Sporting Goods. He was an avid sportsman.

He is survived by his wife, and two daughters, Karen J. Burdette of Distant and Paulette D. Nuhfer and her husband David of Dublin, Ohio, two grandchildren, Charity D. Jackson and her husband Mike of North Apollo and Chad P. Sherman of Erie, and two great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Burdett and Larry Burdett.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in the Leatherwood Cemetery, Porter Township.

Arrangements are at the direction of Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.
