Joanne Murphy White

Joanne Murphy White of New Bethlehem, died peacefully the morning of January 7, 2016 at the age of 79. She worked for many years at the Ringgold Coal Mining Company in Kittanning, PA.  She was a member of Eastern Star, volunteered at the Armstrong County Hospital and Fort Myers, FL hospitals, and organized and participated in many Red Hat Society chapters in the New Bethlehem area.  She graduated from Redbank Valley High School in 1954. She enjoyed her grandchildren, spending winters in Fort Myers, FL, and was an active member of Oakwood Presbyterian Church.

She was born in Kittanning, PA, the only child of the late George and Josephine (Fair) Murphy of Rimerton, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Richard White. She is survived by her son, Larry White (Sherry) of The Villages, FL; and her daughter, Jill Gingrich (Gary) of Altoona, PA. She had 7 grandchildren: Carl, Cole, Clay, Jaime, and Tara Gingrich; and Heather and Heath White.

Visitation will be at Alcorn Funeral Home, 4065 Brookville Street, Hawthorn, PA 16230 on January 10, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on January 11, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Ray Eichler officiating. Interment will be in the New Bethlehem Cemetery.
