Terry D. Ortz, 70, of Templeton, passed away after a short, yet courageous, illness early Wednesday morning, June 13, 2018 at his home. Born on December 5, 1947 in Deanville, he was a son of the late David and Phyllis (Painter) Ortz.

On June 14, 1986, he married Geraldine (Shelton). He served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Marine Corps from August 1966 to August 1972. He worked as an over the road truck driver for Clarion Bathware. He was a life member of the VFW in New Bethlehem.

Terry was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and taking long walks with his brother Raymond and dog Max.

He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 32 years, Geraldine Ortz of Templeton, four children, Tammy Dinger and her husband Bill of Distant, James Thompson of Brookville, Michele Thompson of Clarendon, and Christina (Tina) Murdock and her husband Dan of Brookville, seven grandchildren, Samari Dinger, Ashley Thompson, Taylor Thompson, Justie Jo Thompson, John Michael Thompson, Jacob Murdock, and Sydney Murdock, three sisters, Dorothy Minich, Deretha (Hope) Shuster, and Joyce Foster, and five brothers, Paul Ortz, Raymond Ortz, Gary Ortz, Kent Ortz, and Mike Ortz.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Austin and Lawaive Gerano, and five brothers, Clifford Ortz, Merle Ortz, Blair Ortz, Bernard Ortz, and Jerry (Jake) Otz.

Visitation will be on Saturday, June 16, 2018, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will follow at 5:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Thomas Dymock officiating. Immediately following the funeral service, the Walter W. Craig Post 354 American Legion of New Bethlehem will honor their fallen comrade.
