Barry G. Young, 79, of Fairmount City, passed away on Wednesday evening, July 22, 2026, at the Jefferson Manor in Brookville. Born on February 19, 1947, in Fairmount City, Redbank Township, he was the son of the late Charles K. and Myrtle (Wiant) Young. Barry proudly served his country in the U. S. Army Reserves. He worked for Columbia Gas for over 33 years. He was a 50-year member of the New Bethlehem Moose. He was married on September 16, 1967, to Marilyn L. (Flick) Young and she survives. He is also survived by 3 children; Amy Ortz and her husband, Larry, of Fairmount City, Karen Ackley and her husband, Jeff, of Kane, and Steve Young and his wife, Kristin, of New Bethlehem, four grandchildren; Kayla Hocker, Mackenzie Baughman, Tyler Ortz, and Abby Young, a great grandson, Bennett Hocker, and two brothers, Kenneth Young and his wife, Dolores, of Pittsburgh and Randy Young and his wife, Janice, of San Marcos, Texas. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Shaffer officiating. Interment will take place in the Salem Cemetery in Frogtown.
