Raymond E. Brothers

Raymond E. Brothers, 83, of Fairmount City, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026, at his residence.

Born on September 25, 1942, in Shippenville, he was the son of the late William A. and Betty Jane (Groves) Brothers.

He was married to the former Phyllis Diana (DeSpain) Brothers, and she preceded him in death on July 1, 2000.

Raymond proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. He worked at various jobs including Ti-Brook and Reddinger Coal Co. He was also the owner of The Wing King in Clarion. He was a member of the F.O.E. of New Bethlehem and the V.F.W. of New Bethlehem. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, riding his 4-wheeler, watching wrestling, and his daily trips to town.

He is survived by three children; Monica Lynn Ries and her husband, David, of Clarion, Marcy Lynn Shoup and her companion, Ron Sowinski, and Fredrick Franklin Brothers and his wife Amy, all of Boyers, four grandchildren; Jaycee Shoup, Logan Shoup, Luke Brothers, and Riley Brothers, a brother, Gerald Thomas Brothers and his wife, Brenda of Mayport, a sister, Cynthia Gross of Meadville, and a sister-in-law, Kathy S. Brothers of Dayton.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Arleigh Clayton Brothers.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor John Phillips officiating.

Interment will be in Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the F.O.E. or V.F.W. of New Bethlehem or a charity of one’s choice.
