Benjamin W. White, 90, of Seminole, died Wednesday afternoon, April 27, 2016, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on September 3, 1925 in Kellersburg, the son of the late Robert W. and Sylvia (Young) White. He was married on May 22, 1946 to Ruby A. (Veronesi) and she preceded him in death on June 25, 2014.

Ben served his country during World War II with the United States Army from January 13, 1944 to May 9, 1946. He ran heavy equipment and the train for Reddinger Coal Company. He also worked at various other jobs including H. K. Porter and Burdette Plumbing. He belonged to the Grace Baptist Church in New Bethlehem and the Walter W. Craig Post # 354 of New Bethlehem American Legion.

Ben is survived by a daughter, Linda Shreckengost and her husband, Larry of Florida, a son, Larry White and his wife, Judy of Hawthorn, five grandchildren, Kindra Passmore of Edinburgh, Indiana, Nicol Goin of Franklin, Indiana, Terry White of Strattanville, Mark White of Hawthorn, and Alan White of Corsica, ten great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, three sisters, Nancy Schaeffer of Ford City, Betty Wright of Saxonburg, and Cheryl Crissman of Distant, and two brothers, Richard White and Ralph White both of Distant.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Ruby A. White, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Thomas White.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 29, 2016, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be on Saturday, April 30, from the funeral home at 11:00 am, with Pastor Bob Ryver officiating. Immediately following the funeral service, The Walter W. Craig Post # 354 of New Bethlehm American Legion will honor their fallen comrade. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Distant.

In lieu of flowers, Ben’s wish was to make memorial donations to the Grace Baptist Church at 607 E. Washington St. New Bethlehem, Pa. 16242.
