I came to know Carl back in the 70s when he was the road man for Alexanders Auto Supply in DuBois. I believe it was every Thursday Carl would come to the garage in Hawthorn. My dad and I always purchased parts from Carl. His big smile and friendly demeanor was always with him along with his absolute love and faith in Jesus Christ. You did not talk to Carl long until you realized how deep his faith really was. My grandmother would always tell me about this wonderful person who would come and preach at the Truittsburg church and yes it was Carl Slagle. Carl always had a kind word for everyone. To his children Denny, Lenny and Sue you have my deepest condolences. Carl was truly a good person.

Denny, Lenny, and Sue, Wonderful memories of growing up together and of your Dad and Mom. Your Dad helped my parents get my Rupp mini bike and delivered it to our house. I remember trips up the Coal Road in your Dad’s International Scout. Later in life I had many opportunities to talk with your Dad in the back yard when I was visiting my parents two doors down from your home. I have no doubt that Carl heard “Well done, my good and faithful servant” when he crossed through heaven’s gates. Blessings to you all and your family….Your neighbor, Doyle
