Obituaries

Darlene A. Smith, 83 of New Bethlehem and formerly of Rimersburg, passed away on Monday evening, March 10, 2025, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born on July 16, 1941, in New Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Charles Earl and Oma Maxine (Blair) Barlett.

Darlene was married on July 29, 1960, to George R. “Hun” Smith and he preceded her in death on February 19, 2021.

She is survived by two children, Robin L. Gauger and her husband, Jeff, of Rimersburg and Jay D. Smith and his wife, Sue, of Shippenville, three grandchildren, Michael (Hope) Wolbert of Minot, N.D., Justin (Sally) Wolbert of New Market, TN., and Brittany (Dylan) Reinsel of St. Cloud, FL., four great-grandchildren, Peyton Wolbert, Paige Wolbert, Nathan Wolbert, and Adelynn Reinsel, a sister, Cheryl Fuller of New Bethlehem, and two brothers, James E. Barlett of Slippery Rock and Ray A. Barlett and his wife, Jayne, of Sligo.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Leanne Smith.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
