Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Edgar James Kunselman, of Distant, passed from this life to the next on April 13, 2025, at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, surrounded by his loving family. Born April 6, 1940, in Climax, he was the son of the late Paul, Sr. and Pearl (Bish) Kunselman. He was married on July 17, 1959, to Dorothy M. “Dottie” (Smith) Kunselman, sharing 65 years together. He is survived by his wife Dottie M. Kunselman, children: Tina Kutz and her husband, George of Danville, Bonnie Skinner and her husband, Tom and Tim Kunselman, both of New Bethlehem; five grandchildren: Zach Skinner, Chris Kuntz, Jessica (Brad) Fleming, Zane (Holly) Skinner, and Kalyn Kunselman; three great grandchildren: Asher Kutz, Adleigh Skinner, and Mara Fleming. He is also survived by two brothers, Jack (Edna) Kunselman, Gary (Bobbie) Kunselman, a sister-in-law, Jane Kunselman and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Paul Kunselman, Jr. and Donald Kunselman, and six sisters, Esther Kunselman, Maxine Rearick, Alverda Shoemaker, Shirley Ortz, Phyllis Jean Flick, and Judy Barclay. He joined the Operating Engineers Local 66 in 1967, working various years for them, also worked 25 years at C & K Coal Company as a heavy equipment operator. After C & K, he drove for Master Carriers then back working for the Operating Engineers Local 66 until his retirement. Ed was a member of the Plumcreek Church of the Brethren in Shelocta and the Oakland Church of God in Distant. He was a member of the Hawthorn Lion’s Club and New Bethlehem Lodge # 522 F &AM. He enjoyed spending time at the family camp which he referred to as “the North 40”. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be on Thursday, April 17, at the funeral home at 11:00 am with Pastor Jimmy Swogger officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery (Oak Ridge).
