Obituaries

Gregory S. Shumaker, 59, of Hawthorn passed away Sunday evening, June 9, 2024, at McKinley Health Center in Brookville. Born June 19, 1964, in Punxsutawney he was a son of the late Larry E. and Sandra L. (Coon) Shumaker.

Greg worked as a carpenter for Union Carpenter Local #432 and was a member of the Hawthorn Lion’s Club.

He enjoyed playing sports and watching sports of any kind, especially when his grandkids were playing. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors.

He married Tawna M. (Bish) on March 23, 1985 and she survives, also surviving are three children, Kaitlin Shaffer and her husband, Craig, of Mayport, Brady Shumaker and his wife, Corri, of New Bethlehem, and Cami Bowser and her husband, Shane, of New Bethlehem; eight grandchildren, Emma, Blake, Ansley, Aria, Kimber, Brant, Cade and Bexley; three siblings, Bryan Shumaker and his wife, Joan, of Distant, Corey Shumaker and his wife, Rona, of Distant, and Heidi Clinger of New Bethlehem.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, June 16, 2024, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Shannondale.

Interment will be held in the Oakland Cemetery in Distant.
