Obituaries

Helena P. Crissman, 99, of New Bethlehem, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, June 30, 2024. Born on July 15, 1924, in Sprankle Mills, Jefferson County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Esther (McAninch) Neill.

She was married on December 24, 1942, to Harold Crissman and he preceded her in death on August 31, 1996.

She enjoyed arts and crafts, canvas painting, and crocheting. While her stay at Broadwood Towers, she was the president of the arts and crafts club.

She is survived by four daughters, Cathy J. Pfendler of Berwick, Pamela A. Troup and her husband, Larry, of Mayport, Mary Jane Pierson and her husband, Guy, of Princeton, New Jersey, and Amy B. Braun and her husband, Steve of Saint Charles, Missouri, nine grandchildren, Harold Stitt, Tracy Rankin, Michael Stitt, Chad Troup, David Pfendler, Mary Ann Pfendler, Rebecca Pierson, Isabelle Braun, and Gregory Crissman, and numerous great grandchildren. Helena was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Stitt, a son, Russell Crissman, two sons-in-law, Jack Stitt and David Pfendler, a grandson, David Stitt, two great grandsons, Payton Troup and Kameron Rankin, five sisters, Verna Troup, Ethel Troup, Jessie Tavener, June Bish, and Ruby Copenhaver, and four brothers, Everett Neill, Preston Neill, Paul Neill, and Ralph Neill.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Interment will be in the Hawthorn Cemetery.

The arrangements are entrusted to the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.
