Iva N. “Sue” Tyson, 72, of East Brady, passed away on Monday March 17, 2025, at Clarion Hospital.

She was born to Harold G. and Margie A. (Womeldorf) Smeltzer in Butler.

Sue was a member of Bethany Church in Mercer. She retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was responsible for overseeing the Cherry Run Food Bank for many years. Sue enjoyed spending time with her family, helping other people, quilting, and sewing.

She is survived by (3) daughters, Margie Nelko and husband Alex, Baden, Connie Tyson, Rimersburg, Tiffany Griffin and husband Heath, NC, (2) step-sons, Jason and Clyde Jr. Young, (9) grandchildren, Terry Tyson, Venice Nelko, Brandon Tyson, Tyler Tyson, Tony Griffin and an adopted granddaughter Ashley Couture, Step-grandchildren Codee, Bella, Easton Young, (2) sisters, Diane Billotte and husband Edward, East Brady, Dorthy Runyan and Daniel Guntrum, Rimersburg, a sister-in-law Velma Smeltzer, Rimersburg, numerous nieces and nephews and her companion Don Chandler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, (2) sisters Carol Jean Best, and Tina Lorenz, (3) brothers John, Terry and Vincent Smeltzer and (2) brother-in-laws John Bellesfield, and Richard Runyan.

Friends will be received on Friday, from 2:00 PM until the time of service at 6:00 PM at the Alcorn Funeral Home, 4065 Brookville St., Hawthorn, PA 16230, with Pastor Bob White officiating.

Interment will be at Squirrel Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name Iva “Sue” Tyson to St. Jude Children’s Hospital
