Obituaries

June M. Schreckengost, 94, of New Bethlehem (Putneyville) went to be with her Lord on Monday evening, January 4, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Born on June 8, 1921 in New Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Lester R. and Rhoda G. (Howard) Hilliard. On January 18, 1941, she married Russell E. “Butch” Schreckengost and he preceded her in death on October 25, 2008.

June was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church in New Bethlehem. She was also a member of the Senior Center in Distant.

She is survived by three children, Kay E. Kephart and her husband Allen of Crescent, Keith L. Schreckengost and his friend Lynn Strothers of New Bethlehem, and Barry L. Schreckengost and his wife Brenda of Billings, Montana, nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

In addition to her parents and her husband, June was also preceded in death by a grandson, David Schreckengost and a brother, George Hilliard.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Daniel Clyde officiating. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Distant.
