Kathryn J. Spangler, 87, of Brookville, died early Monday morning on her birthday, September 29, 2014 at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice Home in Warren. Born on September 29, 1927 in Emerickville, she was the daughter of the late John and Goldie (Stormer) Emerick. She was married on November 30, 1946 to Merle E. Spangler and he preceded her in death on March 8, 2010.

Kathryn was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Brookville. She was a homemaker as well as co- owner of Spangler Equipment. She belonged to the Chapter 320 of Brookville Order of the Eastern Star which transfered to Chapter 230 of New Bethlehem.

She is survived by a daughter, Diane Wayne of Warren, two grandchildren, Vanessa Wilkins and her husband Cameron of Erie and Michael Wayne of Austin, Texas, two great grandchildren, Benjamin and Nathaniel Wilkins, a sister, Margaret Swartz and her husband Paul of Brookville, a brother, Floyd Emerick and his wife Donna of Reynoldsville and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Merle, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Yeany, three brothers, Donald, Clayton and Lloyd Emerick and a son-in-law, Robert R. Wayne.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 at the McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 11:00 am at the McKinney Funeral Home with Pastor Timothy Spence officiating. Interment will be in the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Ohl, Beaver Tonwship, Jefferson County.

Donations may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church at 150 Franklin Ave. Brookville, Pa. 15825 or a charity of ones choice in memory of Kathryn.
