Marie D. Pelky, 92, of New Bethlehem passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017. She was born on April 25, 1925 to Gertrude (McElroy) Kohlbrenner and August Kohlbrenner in Philadelphia, PA.

She attended John Bartram High School where she was an excellent student and a talented musician, playing the piano, accordion, harmonica and trumpet.  After high school, she worked in the office of a railroad company.  She met the love of her life, Frank Pelky, a wounded soldier who bravely fought in World War II as the war was coming to an end.  They married and shared their lives in Dayton and later New Bethlehem, where they raised their children, Frank and Rosemarie.  Marie was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and homemaker, she loved her flowers, crocheting, reading, and she was a lifelong crossword puzzle enthusiast.

She is survived by her son Frank J. Pelky of Freeport, her daughter Rosemarie (Pelky) Rupp and son-in-law Gene Rupp of Belknap, her grandson Jesse Pelky of Bellefonte, her granddaughters Chantel (Rupp) Spess of Belknap and Marlette (Rupp) Krizmanich and husband Lenny of Dayton, great-grandson Shane Krizmanich and great-granddaughter, Marisa Krizmanich of Dayton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Pelky, her parents August and Gertrude Kohlbrenner, and siblings Gus Kohlbrenner, John Kohlbrenner, Eleanor Manco, and Forrest Kohlbrenner.

Family and friends will be received Friday, July 14, 2017 from 7 to 9 p.m. with a Prayer Vigil Service preceding the viewing, at 6:30 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the Saint Charles Catholic Church in New Bethlehem, with Father Samuel Bungo serving as celebrant.

Interment will follow in the Saint Charles Catholic Cemetery.
