Obituaries

Patricia L. Stanford, 84, of Ringgold, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 7, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. Born on September 4, 1938 in Brookville, she was the daughter of the late Ralph E. and Ruth (Cummings) Sowers.

Pat was a homemaker and in her earlier years, she worked as a telephone operator. She was a member of the Ringgold United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir. She belonged to the Ringgold Ladies Auxiliary, Ringgold Women’s Society, and the Red Hat Society.

She was married on February 2, 1958, to Bernard W. Stanford and he survives. They just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. She is also survived by three children, Brian W. Stanford and his wife, Crystal of Ringgold, Jody L. Stear and her husband, Denny of Punxsutawney, and Jill A. McManigle and her husband, Carl of Brookville, six grandchildren, Kara (Dan) Milligan, Derek (Miranda) Stear, Tyler (Anna) Stanford, Dylan (Sierra) Stanford, Lindsay (Devon) West, and Carlie McManigle, seven great-grandchildren, and a sister, Margaret “Peg” Smith of Corning, New York.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Huth.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The funeral service will be on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ronnie Cox officiating.

Interment will follow in the Ringgold Cemetery.
