"Boot" Edmonds, Sr. February 3, 1933 - April 3, 2024 Burial Date April 6, 2024 Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 6, at the First Church of God in New Bethlehem at 11 a.m. Share your Memorial with Family & Friends William C. “Boot” Edmonds, Sr., 91, of New Bethlehem, PA, died Wednesday, April 3, 2024, peacefully at Brookville Hospital alongside his loving family. Born on February 3, 1933, in New Bethlehem, PA, he was the son of the late John L. and Rachel V. (Hollobaugh) Edmonds. Boot attended school in Hickory Ridge. He was a Private First Class in the US Army during the Korean War Era, serving with a transportation motor pool, until his discharge in 1955. He married the former, Patricia (Pat) K. Young, on October 27, 1956, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Shannondale, PA, and she survives. Together they raised three children Bill Edmonds (Wendy), Don Edmonds (Greta) and Sue Wolbert (Gary) and is the proud grandpa to six grandchildren, Sarah Durkin (Christopher), Alison Mortensen (Luke), Matthew Wolbert (Skylar), Luke Edmonds (Cassie), Alex Edmonds (Tabitha), and Lynde McCauley (Andrew). He has four great-grandchildren, Hallie Edmonds, LaRue McCauley, and twins Letty and Cameron Edmonds. He is also survived by a sister Edna M. Yount of Mayport Boot has held several different jobs including heavy equipment operator and finished with 23 years with C&K Coal as a dozer, highlift and grater operator. Boot never let the loss of a leg in a mid-1960s motorcycle accident stop him from working hard his entire life. Boot’s hobbies included camping, gardening, and fixing anything in need of repair. He was an excellent woodworker, having made hundreds of things that family or friends have ordered from him, including dozens of birdhouses, wedding card boxes, cupcake stands and small furniture. Boot was a Christian man, who had a personal relationship with God, and attended the First Church of God New Bethlehem. He was a cherished husband, dad and grandpa, and a friend to everyone. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a stillborn son Johnny, four brothers, Charles Minich, Richard Hollobaugh, Ruben Edmonds, and Harry Edmonds; and one sister, Dorothy Ferguson. Visitation will be Friday, April 5, 2024, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Alcorn Funeral Home, 4065 Brookville St., Hawthorn, PA. A second visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.at the First Church of God New Bethlehem, 418 Brian Lane, New Bethlehem, PA. A funeral service will follow at 11a.m. at the church with Pastor Zachary Lays officiating, with a tribute from his nephew Ed Yount. Immediately following the funeral service, the Walter W. Craig Post #354 of New Bethlehem American Legion will honor their fallen comrade. Interment will follow at Salem Cemetery, in Fairmount City (Frogtown), Clarion County.
