Everett “Reed” Yarger, 91, of Fairmount City, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on July 12, 2025, at 10:45 PM.

Born on April 9, 1934, Reed was the son of the late Dale and Pansie Yarger. He proudly served his country in the United States Army before dedicating his professional life to hard work, first as a truck driver and later as a skilled heavy equipment mechanic at Shirey’s Sawmill in New Bethlehem.

Reed was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in New Bethlehem. His strong character, humble spirit, and deep devotion to his family and faith were evident to all who knew him. He especially cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy in his later years.

He is survived by two loving sisters: Peggy Blose (Kip) of Dayton, PA, and Claire Deemer (James) of Ohio; his daughter Lisa Matters (Josh) of Fairmount City, PA; his sons Everett E. Yarger of Dayton, PA, and Barry Crissman of New Bethlehem, PA; grandchildren Audrianna Neiswonger of Clarion, Cody Neiswonger and Isabella Neiswonger of Fairmount City, Shanelle Fancher (Lance) of Rimersburg, Chad Yarger and Jesse Yarger of New Bethlehem; and great-grandchildren Ariana Johnston of Clarion, Noelle Fancher of Rimersburg, and Brielle Freedline of Fairmount City.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Yarger (2021); two sons, Russ Yarger and Scott Crissman; a daughter-in-law Sherri Crissman, multiple brothers; and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at Alcorn Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, with Pastor Bob Ryver officiating.

Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, with the service beginning at 6:00 PM.

The family invites friends and loved ones to gather in remembrance and celebration of Reed’s life.

Immediately following the funeral service, the Walter W. Craig Post #354 of New Bethlehem American Legion will honor their fallen comrade.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests monetary donations to assist with funeral expenses.
