James Franklin Braughler

4/26/1934- 6/28/2026

Our beloved father entered into God’s Kingdom on June 28th, 2026.

James Franklin Braughler was born to James’s “Dale” Braughler and Hazel Nolf of New Bethlehem, on April 26th, 1934. He married soulmate and partner of 65 years, Shirley Ann Connor, on June 30th, 1956.

He was a beloved member of the community. He proudly served as a rural mail carrier for USPS for 38 years. He also enjoyed driving a school bus, serving with the Knights of Columbus, and greeting parishioners at St. Charles Catholic Church.

Those who knew Jim will remember his gentle kindness, many jokes, and infectious smile.  He was happiest tinkering in his garage, enjoying a western movie, camping with his family, or of course, over a bowl of ice cream.

He is survived by 3 children, Greg Braughler (Kim), Michelle O’Brien, and Kristen McIlroy (Chris), 7 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, with another on the way. He is preceded in death by his wife Shirley Braughler, his sisters Betty Dinger and Mary Lou Skinner and a son-in-law Pat O’Brien.

A viewing followed by a mass of Christian burial will be Friday July 3rd at St. Charles Church in New Bethlehem.
