Margaret Mae Shirey, 87, of Mayport, died Monday afternoon, January 15, 2018 at the Jefferson Manor in Brookville. Born on January 12, 1931 in New Bethlehem, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Earl, Sr. and Margaret Mae (Edwards) Patrick.

Margaret was married on March 24, 1950 to John W. Shirey, Jr. and he preceded her in death on November 11, 2008.

She was a homemaker and worked at Bowersox Food Locker, Yeaney’s Egg Farm and Rola Jensen. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Shannondale and belonged to the Mary’s Circle ladies group at the church. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, Kenneth J. Shirey and his wife Audrey of Lexington, Kentucky, Warren B. Shirey and his wife Joyce of Mayport, and Karen Mae Barrett of Columbus, Ohio, six grandchildren, Heidi Hartmann (Kevin), Ashley Barrett, Megan Bonella (Jose’), Liam Shirey, Heath Shirey (Holly), and Autumn Berfield (Matthew), seven great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Shirley Patrick of New Bethlehem, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Shirey, an infant son, Carl Shirey, an infant grandson, Scott Barrett, and a brother, Robert Earl Patrick, Jr.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, January 20, 2018, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Harold Jacobson officiating. Interment will be in the Shannondale Union Cemetery, Redbank Township, Clarion County.
