Obituaries

Samuel Bert Orf, Sr. 75, of Hawthorn, died unexpectedly on Saturday evening, January 16, 2016 at the Clarion Hospital. Born on April 13, 1940 in Dayton, he was the son of Leon E. “Pickle” and Velda V. (Lloyd) Orf. He was married on April 6, 1963 to Charlotte E. (Songer).

Sam was a truck driver for PennDOT for 30 years. He enjoyed racing, especially dirt track racing and working on race cars. He was always there to give you his opinion. He enjoyed being around his family and with his friends around the garage.

Sam is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Charlotte E. Orf of Hawthorn, four children, Sandra L. Orf of New Bethlehem, Samuel Bert Orf, Jr. and his wife Cindy, Marty Sue Stephens, and Brenda E. Miller and her husband Lee, all of Hawthorn, six grandchildren, Gary Stephens, Jr., Amber Stephens, Samantha Orf, Heather King, Kylee Miller, and Elaina Miller, three great grandchildren, Kayden King, Alexis King, and Carissa Martin, and an aunt, Marie Powell of Dora. He is also survived by good friends and sidekicks, Charley Brooks and Brent Lee.

He was preceded in death by both parents, a son, baby boy Orf, a grandson, Thomas G. “Buddy” Martin, and a great grandson, Buddy Ray King.

Sam wishes were to be cremated

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 2 – 8 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. Interment will be at a later date in the Frazier Cemetery in Truittsburg.
