Obituaries

Della Marie (Smith) Adams, 96, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. Della was a former New Bethlehem resident who spent her last days at Jefferson Court.  Della was married to Robert V. Adams for nearly 62 years, they were married June 25, 1954, he proceeded her in death March 6, 2016.

Della was the daughter of Roland and Grace (Wilson) Smith, she was born December 30, 1929.

Robert and Della have four children; Darla (Russ) Hinderliter, Kent (Angie), Brenda and Kevin (Linda).  There are eight grandchildren; Jake, Luke, Amber, Lauren, Paige, Dustin, Robert and Wendi.  They were also blessed with 17 great grandchildren.

Della worked at Leader Vindicator, Bowersox Food Locker and Shop & Save.

She was an active member of the New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church where she served as Deacon, helped with Cherib Choir and served many meals. She was remembered as the scarecrow at the Pumpkin Patch.

Della volunteered as transport officer for Redbank Valley Volunteer Ambulance Company and as a volunteer at the Valley Thrift Shop.

She enjoyed gardening, watching her children and grandchildren play sports cooking and baking and being the clown in the parades and festivities around town.

Della was preceded in death by her husband, parents, in-laws Lawrence and Helen Adams, brothers Carl, Clyde, Robert and Walter, sisters Twila, Alma, Irene and Cora.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, Valley Thrift Shop or charity of your choice.

Visitation will be at Alcorn Funeral Home, 4065 Brookville Street, Hawthorn PA on Thursday October 8, 2026, from 4-7 pm.  Visitation and Service will be at New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 403 Penn Street, New Bethlehem PA, on Friday October 9, 2026 with visitation from 10-11 am, service at 11 with Rev. Dr. Jack Gareis officiating.

Interment will take place in the Hawthorn Cemetery.
