Ruby Mae Horne Sherman, age 94, of Laurelbrooke Landing Brookville, PA passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015.  Prior to moving into Laurelbrooke, she made her home in Alcola, PA.  Born September 21, 1920 in Oak Ridge, PA, she was the daughter of Ottis D. and Alice Pearl (Porter) Horne.  She graduated from New Bethlehem High School in 1937.  Mrs. Sherman retired in 1982 from the Rola Company in Punxsutawney, PA where she worked for 23 years.  In the early years of their marriage, Ruby and her late husband, Nobert, owned the Blue Moon Diner in Alberta, Virginia.  At a later time, they built and operated the Midway Drive-In Theatre near Limestone, PA.  She was a life long member of the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church and the Ladies Aid Society.  She loved to travel, do crossword puzzles, play dominoes, and most of all, scrabble. Her family and friends will remember her peanut butter fudge and home made bread.  She was the loving mother of 5 sons.  Survivors include 3 sons, Vaughan and his wife, Lorraine of Butler, Lonnie and his wife, Gail of New Bethlehem, and Frank and his wife Susan of New Bethlehem.  She is also survived by a daughter in law, Joan Sherman of Sugarland, Texas, wife of deceased son, Dan and a daughter in law, Anna Sherman of Beltsville Maryland, wife of deceased son, Jan.  In addition, she is survived by 10 grandchildren: Marc (June) Sherman, Brian (Margarida) Sherman, Douglas (Rose) Sherman, Brenda (Jose) Martinez, Heidi (Shawn) Fitzpatrick, Craig ( Erika) Sherman, Charity (Michael ) Jackson, Chad Sherman, Shannon (Michael) Wadding and Sally Sherman (Ken) Lehman, 17 great grandchildren: Jamie-Lauren Apel, Sarah-Leanne Sherman, Marc Sherman Jr, Olivia-Grace Sherman, Julien Sherman, Lucas Sherman, Brandon Fitzpatrick, Devin Fitzpatrick, Ashley Sherman (Nick Lockard), Brent Sherman, Mallory Sherman, Rylee Wadding, Blake Wadding, Chase Wadding, Lorelei Lehman, Sienna Jackson and Marleigh Jackson, 2 great great grandchildren: Addison Lockard and Connor Lockard and a number of nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nobert C. Sherman in 1983, son Jan C. Sherman in 1991 and son, Dan N. Sherman in 1995, half-sisters and half-brothers: Thelma Bish, Ruth Cole, Annie Bish, Nell Bish, and Harry Horne.  Friends will be received at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn, PA on Friday, May 15 from 2:00 until 8:00 PM and Saturday, May 16 from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church with the service immediately following, under the direction of Reverend Jodie Smith.  Interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery, near Beautiful Lookout.   Memorial contributions may be made to the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church.
