Eddie Ray Doverspike, 71, of New Bethlehem, passed away peacefully at his home on June 9, 2026.

Born on June 13, 1954, in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, Eddie was the son of Charles “Pat” L. Doverspike and Iva V. (Himes) Doverspike. A graduate of Redbank Valley High School, class of 1972. Eddie spent many years driving coal trucks, earning the CB handle “Puppy,” a name many friends fondly remember.

To know Eddie was to know laughter. He had a gift for storytelling, a quick wit, and a personality that could brighten even the darkest day. Whether he was sharing one of his endless stories, cracking a joke, offering a helping hand, or simply sitting with friends over a cold beer, Eddie made people feel welcomed, valued, and loved.

Eddie found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved photography, flying kites, gardening, playing the harmonica, collecting antique tools and trinkets, building benches, bird houses and other wood making activities, listening to his favorite music (jamming), hanging with friends, quality time with his daughter, hunting the woods for lady slippers, mushrooms, and other forest treasures, BMW motorcycles, and spending time in nature. He often referred to sitting quietly in the woods, listening to the sounds around him, as “wood bathing.” Those peaceful moments reflected his appreciation for the beauty of the world and the peace it could bring.

More than anything, Eddie cherished the people in his life. Friends remember him as one of the kindest souls —generous with his time, always willing to help, and never far from a smile. Whether it was taking spontaneous road trips, sharing adventures and stories with friends, or simply being there when someone needed him, Eddie gave of himself freely. His laughter was contagious, his stories unforgettable, and his friendship a gift to all who knew him.

Eddie is survived by his beloved daughter, Ivana R. Doverspike of Mayport; his siblings, Melvin Doverspike (Sandy), Madonna Shick (Richard), Gary Doverspike (Carol), Pamela Crissman (William), and Wendy Wyant (Mark); along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Vernon Doverspike, and two nephews Jeffery Doverspike and Ricky Shick.

While his family and friends grieve the loss of his presence, they take comfort in the countless memories he leaves behind—the laughter shared, the adventures taken, the wisdom offered, and the love he gave so freely. Eddie was truly one of a kind, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 3:00 pm at the New Salem Pierce Church with Pastor Carol Brown officiating.

The Alcorn Funeral Home of Hawthorn has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Joan Dian (Klimek) Tennant of New Bethlehem, PA died May 19, 2026, at the age of 81 after a fulfilling life with many sources of pride, including her military service, nursing career, and beloved family. She was born in Seminole on February 10, 1945, to Andrew and Mary (Yankel) Klimek. She graduated from Redbank Valley High School in 1963 and then from Braddock School of Nursing.

After nursing school, she served in the Navy, rising to the rank of lieutenant and stationed at Portsmouth Naval Hospital during the Vietnam War. She married Jerry Tennant, who she met while in the Navy. As a result of his career, they went on to live in Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Florida, Texas, New Jersey, and ultimately coastal Maine, where they built their dream home.

Her passions included selecting antiques and art to decorate her home, travelling far and wide, and raising her beloved cocker spaniels. Joan enjoyed showing visiting family members, particularly her great-niece and nephew Lillian and Jack Shaffer, the best sites and seafoods of Maine. She was also a dedicated home hospice nurse for Miles Home Health for many years, providing care at any hour of the day or night that was needed.

No matter how busy or how far away she was, Joan always made sure to be there for her family, at every holiday and special occasion. She exuded a strong and independent spirit, along with a refined and classy character. She maintained a steadfast faith, attending St. Charles Catholic Church.

She is survived by her long-time companion Richard Dechant of Strattanville; sister-in-law Kathryn Klimek; brothers Robert (Shirley) and Christopher Klimek; sister Deborah (Thomas) Seidle; nephews Andrew (Mary) Wincko, Ray (Janet) Wincko, Ronald (Tami) Wincko,

Joseph (Diane) Klimek, Bryan Ruth (Tammy Allenbaugh) and Andrew Klimek; nieces Lora (Bob) Dunkle, Claudia Trainer, Teresa Cimilluca, Mary Klimek, Laura (Brian) Burford, and Erin (Chad) Shaffer; and cat Bella. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ronald, sister Rosalie, and nephew Kurt Klimek.

She chose to forego any service and instead ask her family and friends to remember and celebrate their times together. For her spirit and memory to endure, we are to recall the times that we have spent together reflecting on her nursing adventures, enjoying her famous fried fish and chowder, playing Scrabble on Sundays, telling travel tales, or peacefully looking out at the Damariscotta River.
